Engine oil tolerances

The concept of "tolerance" is a certain quality standard of engine oil for car engines with the definition of all the parameters that the vehicle manufacturer considers mandatory when using the product in its engine or transmission. The assignment of tolerances is a complex and serious procedure.

Engine oil tolerances and specifications from leading manufacturers

To obtain the right to indicate on their products (engine or transmission oil) tolerance, the oil manufacturer must obtain a certificate from the manufacturer of cars of a particular brand.

This is possible only after the automaker will analyze the submitted oil, laboratory and bench tests. Information about the certification of engine or transmission oil according to certain tolerances is mandatory indicated on the label of the flask.

Otherwise, it can be concluded that the oil is not certified according to the tolerances of the automaker.
